A NYS agency located in New York, NY is looking for a AS400 COBOL Programmer for a 12 month contract. The ATS application provides a validated data entry front end for the payroll processing of 20,000 NYCT employees in the Department of Subways. ATS must be maintained capable of producing payroll fully compliant with periodically renegotiated contracts. NYCT has a need to hire a consultant to backfill a vacancy due to the sudden need for an active consultant to take an indefinite medical leave. This will ensure that evolving, up to date contract terms can continue to be installed in the software on a timely basis. Previous consulting experience with NYCT on ATS or similar applications is preferred. The work must be done consistent with all technical specifications set forth either in the project plan or by the project manager. The expertise and educational background desired is outlined in the scope of technical requirements qualificationselection criteria below. Requirements Experience in designing, coding, implementing or managing AS400 subsystems. Furnish references of two complex AS400 projects participated in successfully. Knowledge of timekeeping, employee information and or payroll applications. Ability to work well in a team environment with other managers and staff. Quality of resume. Quality of oral presentation. Key Skills Extensive experience with complex AS400 project development life cycle. CLP, COBOL, DFU, SQL, Query utilities in an OS400 V5R3M0 + environment. OS400 relational db, including physical, logical join files, members, formats, etc. DSPF online screen development, including expertise in all aspects of subfiles. AS400 object security authorization levels, object locks, object descriptions, etc. FTP. (MQ Series middleware also helpful). Windows 2000XP, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Word, MS Project. Good Communication Presentation Skills. Responsibilities Responsible for the coding, development, testing, maintenance and integration of moderately complex application software. Ability to prepare comprehensive program and operations documentation and provide assistance to Systems Analysts as needed. Also defines criteria for documentation.
